Questions like “where did we come from?” “where are we going?” and “how do we get there without doing more damage to our environment?” are just some of the things which are top of the list  for the Inishowen Gathering.

Formed last year following the success of the first Summer Gathering, held in the Isle of Doagh, the Inishowen Gathering is a group of people who organise awareness- raising events focusing on things like Inishowen’s heritage and wildlife, musical and cultural traditions, organic food production and renewable energy.
The Gathering is a voluntary group and has recently been granted charity status.

Since the group focuses on the environment, the turning of the seasons is of major importance. This was true of the ancient people of Ireland too and their main celebrations were held at the turn of each season. The Gathering has adopted this idea and an event is organised for the beginning of each new season
